My Mate
A company of distinction
a place of great renown
run like a prison
its rules and regulations book
as thick as the Bible
most employees brain dead
or miserable
the ones that could, got out
the older ones have no choices left
and when the hands of the clock
seem to stand still
the soul destroying tedium
of the uncreative work
generates aggression
facilitates depression
and those who lead and manage
enjoy the games they can play
more liars than good men
in one place
a sick sick environment
and in this place I found a mate
with a philosophy all his own
who makes me laugh
and sets me straight
and lets me be
and gives me hope
and understands what I'm all about
my colleague, my sanctuary, my friend
my mate.
