you answered so many prayers in mysterious ways
to teach me lessons, they say
God, I have learned so much and still know nothing
I have no open wounds one could heal
yet pain permeates my life
I no longer wallow in the past
just caught in a present I cannot change
living with it, isn't an option
dying no longer a choice
so how do I repair the
desolation of my soul
is this the best you could do
I hear you laugh
I guess the joke is on me

  kan het zijn dat dit de toestand beschrijft die ik voor mezelf 'geboortepijn' noem? In analogie met bevallen: je hebt geen andere keuze dan de pijn te voelen, en het is zo erg en duurt zo lang dat je helemaal uitgeput geraakt van de pijn.
  En toch... leidt het naar het waardevolste wat maar kan én naar de grootste vreugde mogelijk.
