The Green Man
The colour purple all around
sends the ghosts running away
except the green man
green and purple go well together, and he laughs
the sun seldom reaches the back of the room
through the dark curtains of a life
distorting the reality of the confusion
and authenticity of existence
pain and despair, as lethal and addictive
as the prescribed medication by those
who should know better, but who do not care
floating along the calm waters, with heavy undercurrents
one more dead, who would notice really
a few mourn, for them a new dawn, with curtains drawn
rid of the excruciating sorrow which will follow me
forever into the night and stalk me all day
fake a smile, the monkey whispers, and play the part
given to you in this theatre of fools, and as he drools
his filthy slime, it clouds the vision and rubbing eyes
only reveals the green man again, and he laughs
