The Anniversay
Today precisely when I got the call
I was asked to meet with management
they were there one and all
to celebrate an anniversary
my work was appreciated all the years
bunch of flowers the size of a garden
I could hardly hold back the tears
it happened precisely when I got the call
heartbroken, with a smile on my mask
there followed gifts, and money
in the accolades I should bask
at the same time I received the call
jokes were made and I laughed too loud
my heart screaming, with anguish
wanting to cry, but too proud
to let them see my distress
relief when they were done
and I could leave the meeting
to finish my work, and finally run
on this day I received the call
the only anniversary for me was the call
received this day four years ago
emotional destruction of us all
when you took your life in desperation
now I have lit a candle in your name
with my heart in quandary
no support I could expect, came
bless you Eddy all the same.
no grave to put the flowers
your ashes went into the sea
every time I stand at the shore
I know that was your favourite place to be.
