Far from his natural home
he wanders the streets
crowded, he is alone
he does not know
his inherent worth
his absence felt far away
destitute since birth
in search of better days
he hears invisibility's roar
his beautiful black face
ignored on the strangers' shore
on the steps of a doorway
he rests for a while
flow of inner tears hidden
behind a faltering smile…
