Lies

What to do in the face of truth
leave the scene or shut tearful eyes
carry on as before until the day
one has learned to despise
nothing hurts more deeply
than all the well masked lies
truth sets free, but forgetting impossible
no matter how hard one tries

friends lost for something they believed
they just didn't bother to ask, so unwise
missing the friend, amongst the brotherhood of men
the one who could only surmise
sisters eager fools too follow the pack
ready to condemn, no surprise
when truth is laid bare, too late
for any further compromise

and a heart cries, all for the lies
