Looking back
extraordinary year
big picture cloaked
nothing is clear
dancing with a shadow
distortions of a self
why does the painful
always trump the wealth
moments of elation
the good obscured
scaled right down
by the evil endured
malevolent perpetrators
righteous and grand
weariness camouflaged
striving to stand
on the cusp of erratic
shifting sand


yet out of the confusion
seen rising out above
the many hands stretch out
in altruistic love
