you are not there
yet silent stairs creak
your satin pillow
straight and sleek
ghosts of the past
roam freely around
a quiet house, noisy
a spectre playground
attention-seeking imps
dance around the bed
cold nights so long
they mess with my head
finger-slithers of dawn
through curtains creep
alone and at peace
I can get some sleep
