When she was a little babe
to work I had to go
an abstract disappearance
for a child incomprehensible
will mama return perchance

outside, my lipstick fresh
as she waved at her height
I placed a kiss on the window
so she would know I'd return
a promise to be back that night

she has left in the early hours
my whole family, my life
waterfall farewell, long embrace
my heart feels cut by a knife

an adult now she goes back home
her lipstick fresh, eager for the flight
as reluctantly I let her go
