September sunshine
September sunshine
She opened the door slowly,
there he stood, in his uniform so white
golden stripes and stars sparkled
in the afternoon sunlight
she jumped right into his arms,
cried in sheer, overwhelmed delight
within minutes he carried her upstairs
hard with gusto was the first rhyme
then, with expertise, delicious ease,
lengthy discoveries, the second time
he only had three days
and they were very well spent
undercover, in the sheets,
the world disappeared in this tent
one last kiss
he strutted away
turned to wave
she saluted the day
helicopter took off
he had his loyalty
to his chosen career
now to protect royalty
her heart beat
distant love pain
promises made
to be back again
to be back again
to be back again
promises made
to come back again
September sunshine
turned into rain…
